The New Cabin
When I Iook back to when I first had the idea of creating Jessica House, I imagined
a house in the country-side, a sanctuary for people who had suffered the loss of a
child or children. A place where they could come and stay, and be helped by talking
to other parents that had gone through the same unfortunate situation. This place
would also offer councelling and healing therapies, to try and ease the pain.
In the early stages of loss, you need so much support to deal with all the differant
emotions that you have, and when loosing a child, it has such a massive affect on
your life, that it leaves you feeling both mentally and phsyically exhaused, so much
so, that you feel unable to cope with life in general. When I lost Jessica, I felt the
need to go somewhere where I could receive such support, but unfortunatley there
was no-where available, which is why I set up the charity in my daughter's name
to help other parent's that I know are suffering. I know you never fully come to
term's with the loss of a child, but if the pain can be eased in some way, then
it can only be of help.
To create a project of this size is going to take a long time, so I have decided to
make a start. After consulting with friends, family and the trustee's of the Charity,
It was thought that it would be a wonderful idea to have the first log cabin placed
in the garden of our house in Cheshire. It has taken nearly two months to prepare
the site and to construct the cabin, and we received some welcome help from my
partner Adrian, friends and family.
Once the site had been cleared, we were ready for the first delivery of building
materials
We then had the task of moving it all to create the base
There seemed to be an endless amount of timber, which all had to be stacked
neatly ready for construction
The floor beams, and walls sprang up as the cabin began to take shape, and it
wasn't long before we were ready to make a start on the roof
Adding the famous Jessica House sign, and the facia boards.

The consultation/therapy room is now ready to offer 'one to one' bereavement
support, as well as some holistic therapies... |
